5. Data storage
PawBook stores information mainly on the user's device.
If iCloud sync is enabled, certain data may be stored and synced via iCloud/CloudKit. In that case, the information is managed within the user's Apple/iCloud account and is also subject to Apple's terms and privacy policies.
PawBook does not keep its own server with a centralized copy of pets' private data.
6. iCloud, CloudKit and Family Sync
PawBook may use iCloud/CloudKit to sync information across the user's Apple devices.
If the Family Sync feature is available and the user chooses to use it, they may share information about a specific pet with other invited people via CloudKit Sharing mechanisms.
The user controls what information they enter, which pets they share and with whom they share them.
7. Photos, camera and documents
PawBook may request access to the camera or photo library for features such as:
- Adding pet photos.
- Adding documents or images related to veterinary care.
- Scanning nutrition labels.
- Associating images with health, wellbeing, visit or document records.
- Displaying images within the app.
PawBook may allow adding documents or files, such as veterinary reports, booklets, prescriptions, identification documents or photographs.
These documents may contain personal or veterinary information. The user is responsible for deciding which documents they add to PawBook.
PawBook does not use photos, images or documents for advertising or tracking.
8. OCR and nutrition analysis
PawBook may analyze nutrition labels using on-device OCR and the app's internal rules.
OCR allows reading text from labels selected or scanned by the user to help interpret nutritional information or product characteristics.
Nutrition analysis is informational and depends on image quality, available text and PawBook's internal rules.
PawBook does not query external nutrition databases and does not use Open Pet Food Facts or similar services.
9. Location and veterinary clinics
PawBook may request access to location to help find nearby veterinary clinics or show map-related information.
Location is used solely for this purpose.
PawBook does not keep a history of the user's location.
Map or place-search features may rely on system services such as Apple Maps or MapKit.
10. Apple Calendar and Reminders
PawBook may optionally integrate with Apple Calendar and Reminders if the user grants permission.
These features may be used to create events or reminders related to pet care, such as vet visits, medication, vaccines, routines or other tasks.
The user decides whether to grant these permissions and can revoke them from the device settings.

PawBook may send local notifications related to reminders set by the user, such as:
- Medication.
- Vaccines.
- Routines.
- Wellbeing.
- Events.
- Custom reminders.
The user can enable, disable or modify notifications from the app or from the device settings.

PawBook may check purchase or subscription status to unlock premium features or allow restoring purchases.
13. Exports and PDFs
PawBook may allow generating PDFs, summaries or exportable documents with pet information.
These exports are generated at the user's request.
The user decides whether to save, share or send those documents outside PawBook.
14. Data retention and deletion
Data is kept as long as the user keeps the information within PawBook.
The user can delete profiles, records, documents or files from the app, according to the available options.
If iCloud sync is enabled, some data may be synced with iCloud and also depend on the user's Apple/iCloud account configuration.
Deleting the app from the device may remove local data, but not necessarily data that is synced or stored in iCloud.

PawBook does not use advertising services, advertising tracking or data sales.
PawBook may rely on system or Apple services for features such as:
- iCloud/CloudKit.
- CloudKit Sharing.
- StoreKit.
- Apple Maps or MapKit.
- Calendar.
- Reminders.
- Notifications.
- Camera and photo library.
- OCR technologies available on the device.
These services are also subject to Apple's terms and privacy policies.
16. Product links in Wishlist
PawBook allows creating or completing a Wishlist item from a product link entered by the user.
When the user enters a link, PawBook may query that web address directly from the device to try to obtain basic product information, such as the title, an image or an indicative price, when the page allows it. This query is a direct connection from the user's device to the indicated website, does not go through a PawBook server, and may use a small amount of data.
PawBook does not store the HTML code or the full content of the queried page. It only keeps the necessary item information, such as the name, the link, an optimized image and, if detected, an indicative price and the date it was captured.
Detecting information from links is optional and may not be available. If nothing is obtained, the item is still created with the data the user enters.
17. Minors
PawBook is not specifically directed at minors.
If a minor uses PawBook, they must do so with the authorization of their legal guardians when necessary.
18. User rights
The user may request information about their data or exercise the rights that apply under the applicable regulations, including access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability where applicable.
To exercise these rights or make any privacy-related inquiry, you can contact:
19. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated to reflect changes in PawBook, new features, legal changes or improvements in the way privacy is explained.
The date of the last update will appear at the top of this policy.
